The SAN HOLDINGS Group had 322 directors of funerals and other ceremonies certified by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (as of November 2023). These funeral directors use advanced technical skills and service expertise to hold ceremonies that meet the expectations of the family of the deceased and others.
The SAN HOLDINGS Group has 27 embalmers certified by the International Funeral Science Association in Japan (as of April 2024). Certification ensures that these individuals have the skills to provide services that reflect the wishes of the family and assist in other ways.
In addition to funeral services, we provide a comprehensive line of services and support before and after funerals, including consultation and assistance in inheritance and other procedures, a residence and other matters.
We use knowledge acquired as a source of services provided by people in order to operate an end-of-life services portal site where seniors can find quality products and services they can use with confidence.
Since our inception, we have handled a large number of company funerals and farewell events as well as the funerals of many prominent individuals in the organization, academic, sports, entertainment and other fields.
KOEKISHA started the Hidamari Club in 2003 to provide assistance to families following a funeral, including support concerning the grieving process.
This is the first grief care service of a funeral services company in Japan and there are currently more than 1,000 members.

In 2004, the original KOEKISHA became a holding company and changed its name to SAN HOLDINGS. At the same time, the funeral business was divested by the holding company to create the current KOEKISHA, which carries on this company’s proud history that dates back to 1932. KOEKISHA currently performs more than 10,000 funerals every year in the Tokyo and Kinki region.
SOU-SEN CORPORATION began operating in 1980 by opening a funeral hall in the city of Yonago in Tottori prefecture, the first building specifically for funerals in the Chugoku region of Japan. This company joined the SAN HOLDINGS Group in 2005 and currently has 14 funeral halls in Tottori and Shimane prefectures.
TARUI started operations in 1950 in the city of Akashi in Hyogo prefecture. Since 1992, the company has opened many funeral halls at sites along major highways in this area. This company joined the SAN HOLDINGS Group in 2006 and currently has 12 funeral halls in Akashi and nearby areas to the east and west of Akashi.
Established in 1999, EXCEL SUPPORT SERVICE provides a variety of support services for the funerals of KOEKISHA. At one point, the company’s name and business activities were revised in association with a reorganization of the group. Major activities are security, cleaning and property management for funeral halls and food service operations for funerals.

Established in April 2020, Life Forward is a provider of assistance for seniors, chiefly services involving the final stage of life. The company operates a portal site that has information about reliable providers of a variety of quality products and services for seniors.
